GenomeNarrator is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our genomic analysis platform, and the extraordinary measures we take given the sensitivity of genetic data.
Information We Collect
When you upload your genome file for analysis, we process SNP data to generate your report: raw genetic sequence data in tab-separated format, SNP identifiers (rsIDs) and genotypes, and chromosomal position/allele information. We also automatically collect technical information — browser type, IP address, device information, and usage patterns — to improve the service.
How We Use It
Your genetic data is used exclusively to generate personalized genetic analysis reports, identify disease risk variants and trait associations, provide evidence-based health insights with research citations, and improve the accuracy of our analysis algorithms.
Data Processing and Storage
Your raw genome file is parsed locally in your browser using Web Workers — it never leaves your device during analysis. We do not store your raw genetic data on our servers; uploaded files are processed in browser memory and cleared when you close the session. For scoring (disease risk, medication response, traits and ancestry), a compact set of genotype calls, not the file, is sent over HTTPS to our own scoring servers, held in memory for that one request and never written to a database.
Data Security
We implement HTTPS encryption for all data transmission, client-side file parsing to minimize data exposure, no third-party analytics or tracking on analysis pages, and regular security audits and updates.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your genetic information to third parties. Your data may only be disclosed with your explicit consent, to comply with legal obligations, or to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property.
Your Rights
You have the right to access your genetic data and analysis results, delete your data from local storage at any time, opt out of data collection practices, and request information about how your data is processed.
Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect genetic data from children.
Changes to This Policy
